Seika Foods Original Hyoroku Mochi Rice Cake Candy, 14 pieces

If you love Botan Rice Candy, I think you will love this from another fine institution in Japan.  However, the flavor does take a little getting used to as there is seaweed in it, but not so much where its like your eating sheets of those salty seaweed snacks.  It's just a little bit, like sprinkles of furikake on your beef bowl or chicken donburi with sweet potato syrup for the sugary kick. The texture is chewier than Botan like an actual rice cake, and you can eat the wrapper around it. Its also got matcha green tea powder in it, so its like a shot of tea flavor, but all around I would say the first reaction is "wow this is weird and interesting", then the second piece is "this is pretty good". And then the whole box of 14 tablets (2.47 oz) is gone.

Oddly addictive

Vaguely reminiscent of kinako candies, these definitely have a unique flavor. But as I chewed, the odd flavors melded into a satisfying kind of sweet, yet kind of savory richness. I'll be buying these again.

So yummy

I love these rice candies. Absolutely addicting! It is true that the first piece’s flavor is a little different. The next one is amazing!

What are you waiting for!!!!

This was a luxury purchase for me. I’ve had my eye on Auntie K’s website. The candy selection is wonderful. I chose Hyoroku Rice candy and I hope I can get some more cause it is wonderful. I also shoes a molasses hard candy, Hokkaido caramel in butter, melon and adzuki. Each was awesome. Additionally I added Dandy coffee mints. Everything was worth it! Samples were included and are on my list for next time.

I emailed Auntie K with questions and I also messed up my order and it was taken care of effortlessly. The emails were so nice. This won’t be a luxury anymore, it’ll be a necessity!!!

Good shipping rates...buy $25 it’s only $5 for shipping!!!

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals. Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemicals into sources of drinking water. Proposition 65 requires California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987. Proposition 65 became law in November 1986, when California voters approved it by a 63-37 percent margin. The official name of Proposition 65 is the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
